Spider-Man is an amazing character and many children, teens and adults like his films.  Spider-Man first started as a comic book series and the comics became quiet expensive and popular. They then added some animation on Spider-Man and created a cartoon, the cartoon didn't stick around much. Later Spider-Man became a film. The first film was accomplished and more films were made.

Have you ever wondered who were the creators of the Spider-Man comic books? Well the comic books started by a staff of group members, each were assigned a different position. Each of theses members jobs where being a braintrust, a writer, an artist or even having the most brilliant ideas. For example Stan Lee Co-created Spider-Man with Steve Ditko he wrote the comic books during the year (1941-1942) - (1945-1972).

Later the comic book was later made in to a cartoon version. Marvel Animation had announced that the MIPTV conference will have an animated take on Ultimate Spider-Man for Disney. According to Newsarama.com Marvel Animation president Eric S. Rollman told the conference that the "Ultimate Spider-Man was going to be a unique journey their is going to be never before seen stories filled with great challenges, new friends, and intense action. The new series came up after Sony gave up the rights to the animated series "Spectacular Spider-Man".

Spider-Man became a film the first film series in the year 2002 it was based on Marvel Comics of character Spider-Man. It was directed by Sam Raimi and written by David Koepp. The movie is about a boy in high school who turns to crime fighting after he developed spider powers. For nearly 25 years the film was finally licensed for a worlwide release by Sony in 1999. The directors Roland Emmerich, Tim Burton, Chris Columbus, and David Fincher had to direct the movie before Raimi was hired as a director.

The filming took place in California and New York City from January to June 2001 and it was released on May 3, 2002. It was a financial success and was the 26th highest-grossing film. Spider-man was the only film that reached to $100 million in the first weekend, all this was based on the comic book. From the success of the first Spider-Man movie, Spider-Man 2 was released in 2004, and Spider-Man 3 was released in 2007 all were directed by Raimi.

John Dykstra was hited to produce the visusl effects for Spider-Man, he convinced Raimi to make many of the stunts computer generated, which would have been physically impossible. Raimi worked hard to plan all the sequences of Spider-Man from him swinging to buildings to the complexity of the scenes. The biggest difficulty of creating Spider-Man was that as the character was masked, it lost a lot of characterization. In addition, Dykstra's crew had to composite areas of New York City and replaced every car in shots with digital models.

The director has done an outstanding job on all of the Spider-Man series. He is now creating a Spider-Man four that will be released, estimating by August of 2011. His films are always exciting, intense, and are great movies. I am a Spider-Man fan myself and enjoy reading the comics. Spider-Man is a big hit and will continue to be a huge success.

careers in animation

In creating the movie cars there was a lot of hard work and different jobs were needed to start the movie.

One of the jobs was:
  • camera angle
  • producer
  • animater
  • artist
  • Shading and lighting
  • go look for product
  • film makers
  • comp. animater
  • voice actor
  • Person with script
  • director
I would like to become a criminal lawyer so animation isn't really related to my career but I guess it can relate to the clues or evidence for example if there was a video recorded I would need someone with the education to visualize the video for clues and such.

something I learned

Some of the things I learned in making my tutorial, was how the shading column worked. I now know how to change an objects colors, make them look transparent, and put different patterns on the object such as checkered squares and such.

One thing that I had a difficulty on was trying to change it into the pattern. I kept reading it and reading it. And starting all over but I finally found out was I was doing wrong I had to turn off the wireframe.

Challenges I will encounter

  •  I know I will have a hard time creating the ear because the instructions given don't really give you a good understanding on how to create it.
  • I don't know what a polygon profile is.
  • I don't know what the anithelx of the ear is.
  • I don't know what the inner helix is
  • How do I create a large polygon on the back of the ear?
  • How do you add more definition.
  • How do you tweak something?

My tutorial

http://www.creativecrash.com/tutorials/modeling-a-human-ear/page2

I am going to make an ear because creating a human ear should be easy and is interesting. The human ear will be a challenge and there will be times when I will get frustrated but I cant wait to start it.

2 new tools I used

The first tool that I used was append to polygon tool which was used to build a shade like the rest of the helmet but to the mask the eyes part.

The second tool that I used was split polygon tool and it split the mask and it added two lines and lined them up horizontally and vertical.

changing the tools in maya

The purpose for changing the tools, is because you can can customize and control the way you want them to be. You want to get plenty of edge tools that way you can transform your object the way you want it.

the rest couldnt be continued because i had to go to the office, and i came back
and said mrs goeldner wat were the questions and you said: ayyyy lady!
so therfore its not completed!(:

love always stephanie!!(:

Plan of action

I will edit it to be the same size and same shape. I will insert it into maya and find objects and tools that I could use to build the alien. I will probably just do the head of the alien and if I have more time I will accomplish the body also. I will use the knowlegde i used to build the helmet and use some of the same techniques to build the alien. Hopefully my project will be a success!(:

Monday, March 21, 2011

What i picked

I picked an aliens body from front view and side view
I picked it because it is interesting and should be fun.
The challenge should be making the body and  arms

Thursday, March 10, 2011

3 things that i learned

1. I learned how to extrude the helmet
2. I learned how to size the helmet to its fit
3. I learned how to make the helmet more thick

1. It was difficult to make the bottom of the helmet.
2. It was difficult to make the top of the helmet more thick

1. I finally got the bottom shape of the helmet to fit in its shape

Wednesday, March 2, 2011

what was wrong with mine?

I had to extrude the back of my helmet and dragg it out for like half a grid out.
Then I had to make six vertices that way it can connect to the other side of the helmet.
Then i had to get the four point from the mask and drag the four points out and up.
I deleted the inside boxes  that weren't neccessary.

REDO of martins project

Redoing martin's maya project was pretty easy(: his instructions were clear I think he just needs to be more specific on the two cylinder things but other than that i had fun re building it.

One day I would like to graduate my high school, and got to college and become a criminal lawyer. So far I am in the correct direction to fulfill my dreams, I am a junior and I need one more year of high school I was told that I was able to graduate earlier but I turned it down. I don’t want to rush out of high school I want to enjoy it and improve my gpa and top 10 of my class for colleges to recognize me. Then hopefully I will get accepted to UNM and start my career and my life.

STEPS! to build my barn!

First you open up maya and a new scene will appear, then you go to create then polygon primitives and clicked on cube then you drag your mouse to how ever width you want it and then drag it up to the length you want it also.
  • The translate and rotate x,y,z stays at zero
  • The scale x,y,z is one
Then you want to build a roof a triangular prism and you go to create polygon primitives, click on prism lil box next to it.

  • Change the number of sides in base to 4
  • Change the height divisions to 36
  • Change the cap divisions to 30
After that you fix the roof to fit the bottom part and you use the move tool and rotate tool.
Then you change the color of the roof and the barn and you select the roof first and go to rendering then you click on the fifth circle next to the colored ones and choose the color you want, same thing happens to the bottom of the barn.

dislikes and likes about the project

My project was to build a barn to me it was very difficult but I would say I like a challenge sometimes. What I liked was that some of the parts for my barn was already created you just had to select the shape and drag it to the screen and you get to put it at whatever size you want but for my roof which was a triangular prism I had a difficult time getting the correct measurments for my roof and for it to stretch out like a triangular prism. I also dislike that I am not that familiar with maya and I have a far way to learn more about it.

Tuesday, January 25, 2011

proposal for barn

  • I am going to use a rectangle box just one of them for now.
  • Then get a triangular prism for the roof.
  • I need to make to more triangular shapes and group them together to make the doors.
  • I need to create 7 squares for the windows on the barn.
  • I need to create 2 rectangular shapes as the windows for both sides.

Attribute Editor & surface materials

Attribute Editor

1. WHAT IS THE ATTRIBUTE EDITOR?

It provides information about the various nodes and attributes for the objects and materials in your scene.

2. HOW IS IT DIFFERENT FROM THE CHANNEL BOX?

Its different from the channel box because the channel box views and edits the basic transform

3. HOW DO YOU VIEW AN OBJECT’S ATTRIBUTES?

  • In view scene view select templeroof so it becomes the selected object.
  • to view the attribute go to edit, click the show/hide icon on the statueline
  • the attribute editor displays the attribute for templeroof.

4. WHAT DOES EACH TAB REPRESENT?

  • The templeroof tab- known as the transform node transportation.
  • Templeroof shape- called shape node because the attributes establish the objects geometric shape or physical properties.
  • MakeNurbShere tab- an unput node that includes attributes related the construction history.
  • The last two nodes are initial shading group and lambert.
5. THE FIRST TAB IS LABELED AS THE OBJECT’S NAME IS KNOWN AS WHICH NODE?  WHAT IS THE MOST IMPORTANT FEATURE OF THIS TAB?
Transform node it controls the templeroofs information.

6. DESCRIBE THE PURPOSE OF THE SHAPE NODE.

the shape node establishes the objects geometric shape and physical properties.

7. DESCRIBE THE PURPOSE OF THE INPUT NODE.

The imput node includes the attributes related to the objects construction history.

8. DESCRIBE THE INITIAL SHAPING GROUP AND LAMBERT NODES.

There nodes are related to the default shading material for an object

Surface Materials

1. WHAT DO THE SURFACE MATERIALS CONTROL?

The color the shininess and the reflectivity attrubutes of an object.

2. WHAT ARE TWO OTHER NAMES FOR THE SURFACE MATERIAL?

 A shader or shading material

3. HOW DO YOU ASSIGN A NEW MATERIAL TO AN OBJECT?

  •  Right-click the  wireframe of the entablature and select object mode from pop-up.
  • Drag a selection box around all the objects in your scene to select them.
  • From the status line select the rendering menu set using the menu selector.
  • From the main menu select light, assign new material.
  • on the materials list to the right click binn.
  • Rename the attribute.

4. HOW DO YOU EDIT THE SHADING MATERIAL’S COLOR ATTRIBUTES?

  • In the attribute edits then click in the gray box.
  • Then click the color in the wheel click on the middle square.

template and componenets

Template Display

1. WHEN DO YOU USE TEMPLATE DISPLAY?

When your scene becomes complex.

2. WHAT DOES TEMPLATING THE DISPLAY ALLOW YOU TO DO?

Itb allows you to more easily select the objects you want.

3. HOW DOES THE OBJECT CHANGE WHEN YOU TEMPLATE THE DISPLAY?

Its wireframe changes tona gray color.

4. HOW DOES THE TEMPLATE DISPLAY HELP YOU?

Helps prevent from selecting or modifying it accidentally

5. HOW DO YOU CHANGE THE DISPLAY OF OBJECTS TO TEMPLATE MODE?
You  change the display on the base and columns to template mode

6. HOW DO YOU UNTEMPLATE A TEMPLATED OBJECT?

Go to display then object display then to untemplate

7. HOW DID YOU WORK WITH TEMPLATE DISPLAY IN THE LAST LESSON?

We used template display by building the top of the temple by scratch. We used template that way it can be easier to select.

Components

1. WHAT IS A COMPONENT?

smaller parts

2. GIVE THREE EXAMPLES OF A COMPONENT.

Faces, hulls and control vertices

3. WHAT DOES A COMPONENT ALLOW YOU TO DO IN MAYA?
It allows you to work with objects at the finer level and slows to edit them in different and creative ways.

4. WHAT ARE THE STEP TO SELECT A COMPONENT OF AN OBJECT?
1. in the side view, dolly in for a more closer view of the entablature.

2. Set the selection mode to component mode.
3.  right click the wireframe entablature and select control vertex from the pop-up menu.

5. HOW DID YOU WORK WITH COMPONENTS IN THE LAST LESSON?

We used it for the top of the template to move it up.

What problems did you have?

The problem that I had in maya when building the temple was changing the color to a yellow, bronze.

Timely
Being timely for the six weeks.

My goal for the new year and the start to the new six weeks is to get higher grades, an by higher grades I mean getting a high B such as an 88 for example or an A. My measure for the year would be to be on task and constantly checking my grades online, that way I won't loose track. My self action would be for me not to do my work last minute and actually taking my time and understand what Im doing.  Im being reasonable because my goal can and will be acomplished! As far as being timely Im doing this for the first six weeks.
